Icel Group, a leading provider of facilities services, in conjunction with its sister company Ecovert FM, has completed a state-of-the-art dental training facility for King’s College London.
The new facility, LonDEC, is made up of a dental training laboratory with 26 phantom head stations, a dental and medical emergency simulation clinic, an education centre, meeting rooms and a lecture room. It is the only facility of its kind in the country that is equipped to such a high specification, with technology that enables classes in the training laboratory and the lecture theatre to be streamed on-line.
Icel Group and Ecovert FM, along with contractor Carter Synergy, completed the £2m project, 5 months after construction began.
The 1,100 m2 LonDEC facility forms part of the King’s College London Dental Institute in the university’s Franklin-Wilkins Building near Waterloo station.
