
- Icel was established in 1963 as Instrument Control
Equipment Limited and the early focus of the company was providing instrument
equipment and technicians for the gas and paper industries.
- In 1977 the name was changed to Icel (Maidstone) Limited
and the scope of the company’s activities was changed to encompass
more electrical work which led to a more diverse client base. Panel manufacturing
was also introduced at this time.
- Mechanical Services division was added in 1999, specialising
in stainless steel fabrication and orbital welding for fine chemicals,
pharmaceutical and food industries. It also enabled Icel to offer clients
a complete package of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation services.
- Icel Power Systems was established in 2000 and became
an authorised dealer for FG Wilson generators. The new Icel Group was
able to offer generator and UPS design, supply, installation and maintenance
services.
- In 2005 the Icel Group was acquired by ETDE
part of the large multinational Bouygues
group. Icel works very closely with its UK sister company Ecovert
FM leaders in Total Facilities Management, on the integration process.
- 2007 saw the Icel Group become a subsidiary of Ecovert
FM as well as its restructuring into four divisions:
2007 also saw the rapid expansion of the design department offering clients
front end studies through to detailed design and full validation services.
